Child Dental Benefit Schedule
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) was established in January 2014 to provide dental treatment to eligible children aged 2 to 17 years.
Families receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A or other Government payments are eligible. Please contact us with your Medicare number to check if your child is eligible if you are unsure. Alternatively, you can contact Medicare directly.
The scheme covers a range of general dental treatments up to $700, over 2 consecutive calendar years. Any unused funds from the first year of the cap are rolled over to the next year provided the child is still eligible.
The CDBS covers a range of services including but not limited to check-ups, cleans, fillings and emergency treatments. The Dentists at Parkwood Dental encourage parents to bring in their children from a young age even if they have no problems in order to allow children to become familiar with the dental setting, learn good dental habits and develop a healthy relationship with their dentist. As dental professionals, we find this leads to better oral health outcomes and reduces fears and anxieties.
At Parkwood Dental, all CDBS patients are bulk billed, ensuring there is no out of pocket expenses up to the benefit limit.
